The Beavers were formed back in the late 80's to perform a farewell gig to two friends who were emigrating to Canada, hence the name of the band. The gig was such a success that long time friends Graham Blackwell (vocals) and Tim Eastwood (guitar) decided to continue with the venture. The line up varied down the years, with Graham and Tim the constant members of the band, but the popularity of the band endured; gigs were performed to hundreds of ecstatic punters at Woodford, whilst outdoor gigs in Marple drew numbers running into the thousands.

After a sabbatical period, the current line up was put together in 1999. Joining Tim and Graham were Mark Brennan (guitar), Jack Street (bass), Nick Berry (drums) and Adrian Lord (keyboards). Different line up, same success; The Beavers have played countless gigs over the last decade or so, from sweaty pub gigs to hundreds at Woodford Memorial Hall, The Foyer Café Bar and Manchester Rugby Club to outdoor gigs at places like Stockport Rugby Club, and have supported the likes of Ruby Turner and Suzie Quatro. The band have also performed at many weddings and birthday parties, as well as corporate functions. Their gigs at Woodford Memorial each new year and Autumn are approaching legendary status!

The enduring appeal of The Beavers is the vast cross section of music they perform.  Good old rockers by the likes of Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen and Deep Purple sit comfortably alongside contempories such as Kaiser Chiefs, Coldplay, Blur and U2. The recent gigs have seen The Beavers stretch their set list to include numbers by The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Elbow. The gigs are lent the usual party air by getting the crowd fully involved in the gigs to contribute to the atmosphere.

The band recently launched their own website at www.the-beavers.co.uk, where they display forthcoming gig information, latest news and photos. They have set aside a section on the website where they display photos of the audience living it up at their gigs; as the band themselves say, "they are what make The Beavers gigs so special!"

The band can be contacted via email at info@the-beavers.co.uk or by messaging us via the contact page on this website.
